Greek Coast Guard authorities discovered large quantities of drugs in a cave on the islet of Piperi, near the island of Alonnisos, in the Northern Sporades archipelago on Monday.

According to their announcement, the Coast Guard sized a total of 103 boxes which contained more than a ton of cannabis.

On Sunday, authorities arrested an Albanian national who is believed to be connected to the drugs which were discovered on Monday, and they have confiscated the man’s boat.

A total of three boats have recently been found and seized by the country’s police authorities, all believed to be part of a network of illegal drug smuggling from Albania to Turkey.
