New armed forces general staff chief appointed
Lt.-Gen. Christos Christodoulou has been promoted as the new chief of the Hellenic armed forces general staff, following a decision by the relevant government council for foreign affairs and defense on Friday.
The council meeting was chaired by PM Alexis Tsipras.
Lt.-Gen. Georgios Kambas was promoted to chief of the army general staff and Lt.-Gen. Georgios Blioumis as the head of the air force general staff, while the term of the navy chief, Vice-Adm. Nikolaos Tsounis, was extended for a year. The same decision was taken for Hellenic Coast Guard chief Vice-Adm. Stamatios Raptis.
