Nineteen arrests over clashes in Polytechnic and Exarchia
Nineteen persons were arrested for the clashes at the Athens Polytechnic and the wider region of the Athens district of Exarchia on Saturday.
The rioting began in Athens’ Exarchia district and around the Athens Polytechnic building on Saturday evening, after the events marking the 45th anniversary of the November 17, 1973 student uprising at the Athens Polytechnic.
Initially, 22 persons were taken in for questioning. 13 of them were arrested and afterwards six more persons were arrested in Exarchia.
The arrested will be sent to the prosecutor.
