Panathinaikos to remain in Euroleague
Owner of Panathinaikos basketball club Dimitris Giannakopoulos announced the team would continue playing in the Euroleague.
In a statement he released on Friday, in which he announced the return of Mike James to the roster, Mr Giannakopoulos said the Euroleague needed the club and vice versa and that “it would be good for Panathinaikos to be where the greatest clubs of Europe were competing”.
Mr Giannakopoulos had said two days ago that he would ask the fans to decide on whether PAO should continue playing in the competition via a referendum after what he claimed was his unfair treatment by the Euroleague’s disciplinary body, which has imposed a ban on him entering matches.
