The police station of Pefki; north of Athens, was targeted by hooded assailants in the early hours of Thursday morning.

At least five petrol bombs were thrown at the police station shortly after 2am, causing extensive damage to the exterior of the building.

Two cars; a patrol car and a taxi parked at the police station’s lot, were set on fire by the petrol bombs.

Police say that there were about 10 assailants involved in the attack who then disappeared on their motorbikes. No arrests have been made.

Police forces have often been the targets of petrol bomb attacks by anarchist groups in the center of Athens, near the infamous district of Exarcheia. However, it is rare for such attacks to happen in the northern suburbs of the Greek capital.
