Greece’s embassy in Doha, Qatar will assume the diplomatic representation of Egypt in the Gulf country, the Greek foreign ministry announced on Monday.

The announcement came after the Greek and Egyptian foreign ministers spoke by phone, and after the stunning decision by several Arab countries, including Egypt and Saudi Arabia, to suspend diplomatic ties and trade relations with Qatar.

Greek FM Nikos Kotzias said Athens is will at the disposal of all sides involved in the development.
