Greek survey finds 1 in 5 internet users favor ad blockers
Almost one in five internet users in Greece, mostly men with desktop computers, utilize ad blocking tools, according to a survey by TailWind.
The first Greek survey on the phenomenon showed that 19.6 percent of users employ an ad blocker, with the majority of them men aged between 18 and 34 years of age and with a high educational level.
There are great differences between users of different digital devices, as ad filtering is used by 34.3 percent of desktop owners, against 2.8 percent of smartphone users and 4.7 percent of tablet users.
The main reason consumers block ads on the websites they visit is that they want to avoid annoying messages (71 percent), with two in three saying they would uninstall the application if ads were less annoying and did not affect their internet use.
