Farmers block border in northern Greece
Farmers and livestock farmers in Kilkis, northern Greece, blocked access to and from the Evzoni crossing on the border with the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on Saturday.
The protest action, which included some 50 tractors and 50 pickup trucks ended at 3 p.m. on Saturday, but is expected to be the first of several such actions being planned by farmers protesting pension cuts and other austerity measures.
Farmers from Farsala, Karditsa, Trikala and Larissa in central Greece are expected to stage symbolic protests on Monday.
