Major clashes in city center of Athens – Police make six arrests
The city center of Athens turned into a warzone on Tuesday evening, as protesters and police clashed. Six protesters were arrested – four men and two women.
A number of demonstrations by leftist parties and unions took place on Tuesday against the official visit of US President Barack Obama. The protests turned violent in the areas around the Athens Polytechnic University and Exarchia.
Protesters set up barricades and set threw rocks and Molotov cocktail bombs towards riot police, which responded with tear gas.
