Over 12,000 refugees stranded on the Aegean islands

More than 12,000 refugees are currently stranded on islands in the Aegean Sea, a record high number following the EU-Turkey agreement.

As of Monday morning there are 5,499 refugees on the island of Lesvos, 4,210 on Chios and 2,316 on Samos, bringing the total tot 12,025.

In the past 48 hours it was reported that 45 refugees arrived on Lesvos, 56 on Chios and none on Samos.
