Little Paris of Athens coming to town
It is a festival of artistic expression taking place on French named streets around the center of the capital
Music, art and photographic events are scheduled as well as street art, theater and vaudeville at the 4th Little Paris of Athens that will take place from October 6 to October 16. The 4th Little Paris of Athens is a multi-aspect festival of artistic expression taking place on French named streets around the center of the capital. The Petit Paris d’Athenes is organized by the Athens Art Network, the Youth Culture and Sports Organization of the Municipality of Athens and the Region of Attica with the support of the French Embassy of Athens.
Round table discussions, educational programs, chess events, photographic exhibitions, street art, theater and vaudeville, actions and street performing arts, lectures, “tables rondes” and “rendez vous sociaux”, and many other games and other activities are scheduled for this year. This year’s subject is “L’esprit d’equipe et les arts,” loosely translated as team spirit and the arts.
Events take place in Vathi Square, the area beneath Omonoia Square up to Karaiskaki Square and Larissis Railway Station where there are many roads with French names, a meeting spot for Athenian urban culture and Greek folk tradition, as well as migrant cultures. All those years, these are the place where the Athenian urban civilization and Greek tradition meets with migrants’, travelers’, and visitors’ cultures.
This initiative gave life to some of the most underprivileged areas of Athens. It quickly became a prestigious international multi-festival, with the participation of 500 artists in more than 40 selected locations.
