Two Egyptian men, aged 30 and 29 years old, have been arrested for the murder of a 34-year-old Syrian man on Monday afternoon in the village of Machairado on Zakynthos.

According to the police report, the victim and the 30-year-old had been arrested and later released on bail on Friday for a string of burglaries and break-ins.

The 30-year-old came to blows with the victim, after he realized that the 34-year-old had established a relationship with his girlfriend. The victim was attacked with a pocket knife and was stabbed five times in the abdomen.

The police later arrested the 30-year-old along with his 29-year-old compatriot, who is believed to have been present for the knife attack.
