Cypriots in Rio can contact Brasilia Embassy in emergency

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus issued an announcement on Friday, informing Cypriots who intend to travel to Rio de Janeiro on the occasion of the Summer Olympics that the Republic maintains no Consular Office in the city.

It added that the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in the capital, Brasilia, will be able to assist Cypriots travelling to Brazil. Cypriot citizens in Rio may also contact the Consular Offices of other EU member states.

The Foreign Ministry also notes that those who are already in Brazil or intend to travel there soon, should follow local authorities` instructions and stay informed of developments by following the local media.
