Disgraced former Minister of National Defense Akis Tsohatzopoulos was the victim of a brutal assault in his prison cell in Korydallos, last Thursday.

According to a report in the Ethnos newspaper, the 77-year-old former minister – who has convicted on bribery charges – had to be transferred taken to the prison infirmary for treatment.

The newspaper report claims that Vasilis Stefanakos – who is serving a prison sentence for the instigation of a murder committed by Alket Rizai in 2006 – was responsible for the attack.
