Laparoscopic surgeries in “Agios Savvas”
Two live laparoscopic surgeries were performed in “Agios Savvas” Hospital Urology Unit, with participation of urologists from Turkey and Azerbaijan. Greek and foreign urologists collaborated on a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and a laparoscopic nephrectomy. The procedures were completed with great success and followed by the hospital’s interns, while the aim of the partnership was to strengthen the relationship between clinics from all three countries. “From time to time we carry out hands-on sessions, in collaboration with foreign clinics”, noted Urologist and HNHS 1st Registrar at “Agios Savvas” Hospital, Mr. Theodoros Kalogeropoulos.
Athens Cancer Hospital “Agios Savvas” is one of the few public hospitals in Greece, where laparoscopic urology procedures are performed. The hospital runs a state-of-the-art, digital operating room for laparoscopy procedures, inaugurated in 2011.
Scientists from Turkey and Azerbaijan visited Greece to attend the Meeting of the EAU Section of Uro-Technology (ESUT16), held for the first time in our country, from 8 to 10 July.
