Tourism drops in Greece in 1st quarter by 6.2%, says Bank of Greece

According to a survey conducted by the Bank of Greece and released by the Greek statistical services (ELSTAT), the data demonstrated that tourism fell by 6.2%, or 107,450 people, in Greece during the first quarter of 2016 in comparison too 2015. More specifically, arrivals from Europe to Greece, which make up 82.9% of the tourists, fell by 4.9%, while the drop was 9.3% from EU citizens. Most arrivals were made via road and air, with the main land gateways being Evzonoi customs (9.1%) and Promachonas customs (7.8%). The Athens International Airport (38.4%), followed by the Thessaloniki Airport (7%) were the major entry points via air to Greece form tourists.
