Prespes Watermills win 2016 Europa Nostra award

The traditional watermills in the village of Agios Germanos, located on Lake Prespa in northeastern Greece, was one of the 7 Grand Prix winners of the 2016 ‘Europa Nostra’ Awards that took place in Madrid, Spain. The awards, which are part of the initiative by leading European organisation for cultural heritage ‘Europa Nostra’ every year, were attended by European Commissioner for Education and Culture Tibor Navracsics. This year’s 7 winners received 10,000 Euros each and were chosen among 28 finalists. The traditional watermills of Agios Germanos were under the category of ‘Cultural Legacy’.
