New Democracy remains skeptical over omnibus bill provisions
The coordinating body of main opposition party New Democracy arranged to meet on Thursday morning in order to closely examine and discuss the omnibus bill submitted by the government n Wednesday evening.
Although many ND officers and MP appear to favor an outright rejection of the bill in the parliament, there are considerations about supporting certain provisions in the bill, such as privatizations or the management of non-performing loans.
While the conservative party supports privatizations in principle, party officials warn that ‘the devil is in the details’ and as such are not convinced on the efficiency of the government plans. In any case the much-debated automatic adjustment mechanism will be rejected, since New Democracy considers it to be a ‘perpetual bailout’ and will enforce a state of never-ending austerity.
