Chios police chief steps down

Andreas Damiris on Thursday stepped down as Chios police chief citing personal reasons. Reports suggested his resignation was tied to the ongoing refugee and migrant crisis.

Dimitris Avgerinos was acting as interim police head on the eastern Aegean island until Damiris’s resignation was approved by authorities.
