Democratic Alignment sets out on independent political course

The Democratic Alignment held a conference on Sunday where the political declaration and planning was unanimously approved.

During her speech, PASOK leader Fofi Gennimata was highly critical of PM Alexis Tsipras and main opposition leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis and underlined that the Democratic Alignment will be independent and not side “either with the conservative New Democracy or the populist SYRIZA”.

According to Mrs. Gennimata, both parties are cultivating a climate of polarization to galvanized their party supporters and claimed that “the future of Greece and the Greek people is too serious an affair to be left to chance or the hands of sorcerer’s apprentices, Mr. Schäuble’s right hand, Mr. Tsipras.

The PASOK leader also underlined that the Democratic Alignemnt represents progress in society, by bringing together socialists, social democrats, leftist reformists, ecologists and political liberals.
