Turkish warplane violations in eastern Aegean continue
Continuing violations of national airpace in the eastern Aegean region by Turkish warplanes – a heightened and worrying phenomenon over recent weeks – were recorded on Thursday, with two instances of fighter aircraft flying over islands and, in one case, an engagement reported.
Twenty-nine violations were recorded on Thursday alone.
Specifically, two formations of six and two warplanes, respectively, were cited, with two aircraft also armed.
Greek warplanes scrambled and intercepted the violating planes based on international rules, according to a relevant announcement by military authorities.
