Opposition parties slam government for collecting cash reserves
The government’s decision to ask hospitals, OAED and Parliament to transfer their cash reserves to the Bank of Greece has prompted reactions from the opposition parties.
New Democracy accused the government of “smashing the piggy banks” and taking what little funds are left for the hospitals, OAED, EOPYY and Parliament “demonstrating that it does not learn from its mistakes that harmed the people”.
The main opposition party also took the opportunity to repeat its call for early election, claiming that the government stepping down “is the only service it can do to the country”.
Similarly, the River accused the SYRIZA/Independent Greeks government of “further plunging the economy” rather than bringing a recovery. The opposition party added that the government is indiscriminately collecting what reserves remain in the public sector merely to cover its cash flow requirements.
