Theoharis quits Potami, to continue as independent MP
To Potami deputy Haris Theoharis, the former general secretary for public revenues, revealed Tuesday that he is leaving the centrist party to continue as an independent MP.
In a letter to Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis, Theoharis said that he had become disillusioned with the party and felt that it is not providing the voters that supported it with “something new.”
He also accused Theodorakis of adopting an equivocal stance with regard to the SYRIZA-led governing coalition, while also identifying too closely with New Democracy and PASOK.
“I leave Potami’s parliamentary group feeling that what divides us is more than what unites us,” said Theoharis in his letter. His departure leaves the centrists with 10 seats in Parliament.
