Nearly 54,000 migrants and refugees stranded in Greece
A total of 53,978 migrants and asylum-seekers are currently in Greece according to fresh data provided by the government.
According to the data, which were made public on Wednesday, 29,291 migrants and refugees are currently in northern Greece (10,257 of them remain stranded at Idomeni camp near the border with Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia), 14,906 in Attica, 7,645 on the eastern Aegean islands, and the rest scattered around the country.
A total of 176 arrivals were recorded early Wednesday.
