Obama to meet with Merkel on Greek crisis
US President Barack Obama will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on April 23 at Hannover, Germany, in order to help Greece, according to mignatiou.com. During their meeting, the main topics to be discussed will be the economic and refugee crisis that Greece is dealing with.
According to Senior Director forEuropean Affairs at the US National Security Council Charles Kupchan, the refugee issue and the Greek program will dominate the discussion during the meeting, while the Americans are insisting that a debt relief is required so as to the Greek debt could be sustainable.
Specifically, Mr. Kupchan said that cooperation of the two countries with Greece will be discussed separately, since US government believes that Greece is among the countries that bear the weight of the refugee crisis at a great extent, and that they should help Greece to the management and hosting of immigrants. But also to focus on drafting a sustainable plan for the Greek economy.
