Bank in Agios Eleftherios goes up in flames early on Monday morning
A Piraeus Bank branch located on Acharnon Street in the Agios Eleftherios area in Athens has suffered major damages, after arsonists set a fire in the early hours of Monday morning.
The arsonists carried out their attack shortly after 1am on Monday, by smashing the bank’s glass front and throwing in two gas canisters. As a result, a fire broke out which quickly spread, ravaging the building.
The Fire Brigade dispatched 13 fire fighters with five vehicles to tackle the fire. The police have recovered the remains of the two gas canisters and sledge hammer that were used in the attack.
