In negotiations up to now, gaps have been recorded in the property issue and the basic freedoms, causing the progress to be hindered in the process. Leaders have not been able to touch on the issues of territory or guarantees and security up until now.

UN Secretary General Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide has held separate meeting with Anastasiades and Akinci on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Eide has said that there is a unique chance for a solution, which will bring money and investment to the island. Eide did add, however, “As it is known, the devil is in the details.”
