Greece engulfed by huge quantities of African dust
Greece has been covered by African dust, which has been brought by storms and strong winds. Crete and Peloponnesus have been affected the most by this dust storm.
Aside from covering everything in a reddish-brown blanket, the dust may cause health issues to vulnerable population groups, particularly those suffering from asthma.
According to meteorologist Kostas Lagouvardos, the latest readings for Chania were 2,150 micrograms per cubic meter and 800 micrograms per cubic meter for Methoni.
The situation in Attica was much better though, with the Observatory at Thisio documenting readings between 150 to 200 micrograms per cubic meter of air.
