Shotguns and explosives recovered from cargo freighter near Crete
The Tongo-flagged Trader cargo ship, which was recently seized of the coast of Crete, was carrying a shipment of 6,400 shotguns and a huge quantity of explosives.
After being seized off the coast of the coast of Crete, the ship was transported to the port of Souda, in order to inspect the six containers on board.
During the inspections, authorities found the shotguns in one container and huge quantity of explosives in another.
According to the Coast Guard, the Trader set sail from Mersin in Turkey, with Lebanon being its final destination. So far no charges have been addressed to the ship’s 11-strong crew.
