From the stand in Parliament on Wednesday, the Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras announced that a council meeting of political leaders will be take palce, under the President of the Hellenic Republic, ahead of the extraordinary EU summit on the refugee crisis.

PM Tsipras explained that he would seek out the greatest possible consensus and demand proportionality in at the EU summit in relation to the burden of addressing the refugee crisis.

During his speech, the PM was highly critical of the “unacceptable” Austrian initiative to call a summit meeting with non-EU Western Balkan states while excluding Greece.

“From now on, Greece will not consent to any agreements, unless the compulsory sharing of responsibility among member-states is guaranteed” he stressed and commented that “we will not tolerate our country being turned into a permanent warehouse of souls while Europe acts like nothing is happening”.
