Ombudsman warns of impact of illegal cottage industries
The Greek Ombudsman has asked for a review of the regulations concerning the licensing of cottage industries like dairies and oil presses, warning of their environmental impact in the wake of complains that a large number of such businesses are operating illegally.
Assistant Ombudsman Yiannis Sagias revealed that many plants are operating in areas where industrial activity is forbidden, there are overly large clusters of specific types of businesses in certain areas and also that environmental regulations are being systematically breached.
