Tsipras-Boldrini: “The refugee crisis affects all 28 EU members”
The president of Italian parliament Laura Boldrini was received by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Athens on Friday, with the two agreeing that the refugee crisis concerns the European Union as a whole. As such, they argued, the refugee crisis must be addressed by a common European policy, rather than let the burden fall on the shoulders of countries such as Greece, Italy or Germany.
During the meeting PM Tsipras commented that the conservative and far-right voices in Europe are increasing, making matters worse. Unless initiatives are taken, he fears that the situation will grow worse. Mrs. Boldrini underlined that all Europeans are proud of the Greek people’s response to the crisis and noted that everyone must share the responsibilities.
