Five men arrested for gold digging
Five men were arrested near Ioannina, northwestern Greece, while apparently digging for gold without a permit.
The men, aged between 37 and 66, were using a mechanical digger and metal detectors.
They were allegedly searching for gold sovereigns they believed were buried near the village of Kerasea.
They have been charged with breaking Greece’s strict antiquity laws.
