Striking farmers hand out fruits and vegetables
Small farmers on strike over the government’s proposal to overhaul the country’s ailing pension system on Wednesday handed out fruits and vegetables at a produce market in Kolonos, near the center of Athens.
Pictures distributed by Reuters showed dozens of people pushing and shoving to receive the free produce. The stock was depleted in 20 minutes, reports said.
