Greece ranks 58th in Corruption Perception index for 2015
In its annual Corruption Perception Index for 2015, the Transparency International NGO has ranked Greece 58th out of 168 countries included in the report.
Greece specifically scored a 46 in 2015’s index, which puts it above neighbors Italy and Turkey, but bellow countries such as Georgia and Costa Rica. The performance for 2015 marked minor improvement over previous readings (43 in 2014, 40 in 2013 and 36 in 2012).
Northern European countries, such as Denmark, Finland and Sweden, have topped the list for 2015, however the NGO argues that “just because a country has a clean public sector at home, doesn’t mean it isn’t linked to corruption elsewhere” and notes how bribery abroad is a major problem.
