Athens Stock Exchange opening: Nosedive

Equity prices were dropping on Wednesday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 5.03 percent, standing at 530.18 points at 11.00 am and turnover at 9.79 million euros.

The FTSE/ASE Large Cap index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 6.28 percent and the FTSE/ASE Mid Cap index down 2.52 percent.

All individual sector indices were moving downwards with the heaviest losses in Banks (-9.14 percent), Health (-7.61 percent) and Raw Materials (-5.47 percent).

Of the stocks traded, 9 were up, 37 were down and 6 were unchanged.
