Petition to award Nobel Peace prize to the people of Lesvos
An online petition has called for the people of Lesvos and all volunteers to be awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts in helping refugees arriving on the island.
According to the petition the people of Lesvos and other Aegean islands “despite the ongoing fierce economic crisis, have fought with the waves to save the valuable lives of desperate people fleeing the war zones of the Middle East, have provided safe shelter, warm clothing and food” and “who have provided consistent care and tenderness in welcoming the refugees”.
Over 12,000 people have so far signed the petition since it was created in November 2015.
