Eurostat: Greece in last place in terms of EU’s fertility index

Greece is listed in the unenviable top spot of Eurostat’s fertility index, with the EU executive’s statistics authorities releasing the latest figures (2017) on Tuesday.

Specifically, Greece is last with 1.35 on the index (42,267 births), down from 1.38 in 2016. The average index for the EU is 1.59, compared to 1.6 for 2016.
