Thessaloniki Mayor Yannis Boutaris on Wednesday said he will not seek re-election in Greece’s second largest city.

In a comment to the state-run news agency, Boutaris referred to a personal, and not a political decision.

His tenure ends in September 2019, while local government elections are set for May.
