OPAP supports the new generation of athletes with “OPAP Champions” program
Support to eleven athletes from individual and team sports
OPAP presented the new sponsorship program “OPAP Champions” that supports eleven athletes from different individual and team sports in a special event that took place on Monday, September 10, 2018. The program extends OPAP’s longstanding commitment to the development of Greek sport, enhancing the new generation of athletes.
OPAP Champions focuses on the support and promotion of the daily efforts of the athletes, providing the necessary resources for the athlete’s development and achievement of their goals. In addition, the program aims at inspiring society – especially young people – through the values and ideals of sport.
OPAP CEO, Damian Cope has stated: “For 60 years, OPAP has been a responsible and credible partner for society, the economy and sport. Specifically for sport, we have been supporting in practice individual and team sports, contributing actively to their development. The new OPAP Champions program links to our legacy as a company and focuses on the future of Greek sport. High performance is not an end in its self. The program focuses on values that real champions represent, such as fair play, passion, determination and persistence”.
OPAP Chief Customer Officer, Petr Matejovsky noted: “We all know that success does not come overnight. It requires hard work. Often there are unfortunate moments and a lot of pressure. Our goal is the athletes of OPAP Champions program to become role models for the Greek society, proving in practice that effort makes everything possible. We stand by the side of the athletes, helping them cover their day-to-day needs and supporting their efforts”.
The athletes that participate in OPAP Champions program are:

- Apostolos Christou (Swimming/Backstroke)
- Semeli Zarmakoupi (Tae Kwon Do/Kick Boxing)
- Giannis Kyriazis (Javelin)
- Panagiota Dossi (High Jump)
- Panagiotis Trivizas (Running Sprints 60m, 100m, 200m)
- Konstantinos Kotsovos (Golf)
- Alexis Ioakimidis (Boxing)
- Gavriela Charalampidi (Tennis)
- Konstantinos Galanopoulos (Football)
- Giorgos Kalaitzakis (Basketball)
