Afghan migrants clash in Greece Island leaving 4 dead, wounded
The Afghan migrants clashed among each other in a Greek island leaving at least four people dead or wounded, the country’s police officials said Sunday.
The incident has reportedly taken place in the vicinity of Lesvos Island after a clash erupted among residents in a local neighborhood.
A spokesperson for the local police confirmed the incident and said the main motive behind the clash has not been ascertained so far.
The police official speaking on the condition of anonymity further added that one person was killed and three others were wounded during the clash.
According to reports, more than 8,500 refugees and other migrants are staying on Lesvos pending processing of their cases, with 6,600 staying in camps designed to accommodate 2,300.
Hundreds of Afghans left the country during the recent years mainly heading towards Europe amid deteriorating security situation in the country, often risking their lives by passing through dangerous routes, specifically the Iranian territory and the Turkish coast.
This comes as hundreds of Syrian and Afghan refugees started bloody fight at the E2 port gate and quickly spread to the E1 gate of Greek Port last year leaving several people dead or wounded.
The statement further added that the ISIS fighters beheaded their 15 comrades after an infighting erupted among them due to unknown reasons.
According to the provincial government, the beheading of the fifteen men has resulted into a major crack among the ISIS ranks in this province and there are fears more violence and infighting among the group.
