‘Time to invest in Greek, Italian banks’
Greece and Italy offer attractive opportunities for investments in the banking sector, Atlas Merchant Capital CEO Bob Diamond told Bloomberg TV.
Diamond said that he seeks opportunities in Europe, especially in countries such as Greece and Italy, in which he has pursued and closed deals.
Earlier this year, Diamond’s firm bought out Credicom, a consumer loans division of Credit Agricole, in Greece.
“We believe that both Greece and Italy have reached the point that it is time to invest in their banks once again,” Diamond said.
“We are developing the technology to be a truly competitive bank, accepting deposits and issuing loans to small businesses. There are similar opportunities in Italy, and we are working with many people there.”
