Yanis Varoufakis has claimed that German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble had decided to overthrow the conservative government of Antonis Samaras in June 2014.

Speaking at a presentation of his book, Varoufakis, who was finance minister of Greece from January to July 2015, said that “the third memorandum was being planned since 2013-2014” and that Schaeuble told him he decided to get rid of Samaras in June 2014.
