French Ambassador Christophe Chantepy on Thursday urged his compatriots residing or visiting Greece to stay “calm” and exercise their “usual vigilance” in the wake of an attack on the French Embassy in central Athens early on Thursday.

In a statement released on Thursday, Chantepy noted that the Greek authorities’ reaction had been swift and an investigation was launched immediately after two unknown perpetrators threw a hand grenade outside the building. A policeman on duty outside the building was wounded in the attack.
