The “Parmenion 2016” military exercise was launched on Monday and is expected to run until Friday 7 October. All Greek military forces, as well public sector agencies, will participate in the exercise which is planned and directed by the Hellenic Army General Staff. As such, the Civil Defense sirens across the country will be sounded on Wednesday morning.

The aim of the exercise is the practice and evaluation of the armed forces in planning and conducting operations, as well as to maintain and upgrade the combat capacity. The exercise also aims to strengthen cooperation and coordination among the different branches of the armed forces and the state sector agencies during the implementation of the national plans.
