Communist Party to honor the memory of the exiles to Makronisos

The Secretary General of the Communist Party of Greece Dimitris Koutsoumpas is scheduled to deliver a speech at a special event on Makronisos, as part of the the party’s celebrations for its 100th anniversary.

After the speech a performance of the musical by Thanos Mikroutsikos “Cantata for Makronisos” featuring the poetry of Yannis Ritsos will follow.

The aim of the event is to honor the thousands of Communists who were exiled, tortured and executed on the island during and after the Civil War in Greece, as well as to highlight the historical importance of the site.
