Appeals Prosecutor calls for Marinakis to be referred and detained
The Appeals Prosecutor Stamatis Daskalopoulos has called for Olympiacos chairman and provisional successful bidder in the recent TV license tender Evangelos Marinakis to be referred to a trial and detained.
Mr. Marinakis is specifically suspected of being involved in a criminal organization that is believed to have rigged football matches, among other felony charges. Although restrictive conditions were imposed on Mr. Marinakis, in relation to the case, the Prosecutor has called for these conditions to be upgraded to a detainment until trial.
Recently Mr. Marinakis admitted to be involved in football, despite an earlier court decision which banned him from doing so. The Olympiacos chairman’s side has responded that the ban in on football and not the profession aspects of football.
