Forest fire breaks outs in remote area on Mount Taigetos
A major fire reportedly broke out in the remote, forested area of Pigadia on Mount Taygetos late on Sunday evening. No villages appear to be at risk.
The Fire Brigade has deployed nearly 100 firefighters to the gorge where the fire is currently burning through, with additional support from Athens dispatched early on Monday morning.
The firefighters are supported by seven airplanes and one helicopter
