A boat carrying about 80 migrants and refugees was spotted south-southwest of Lesvos early on Thursday morning. Two Coast Guard vessels have rushed to assist, however the passengers do not appear to be in any danger, as weather conditions are favourable.

Meanwhile the Refugee Crisis Management Coordination Body announced that there are currently 56,622 refugees in Greece at present, with vast majority (23,881) in the north of Greece and 5,632 being accommodated by the UNHCR.

As for the rest of the country, a total of 8,319 remain on the Aegean islands, 2,172 in Central Greece and a further 248 are in the south. In Attica there are 9,947 in the eight organized hospitality centers and 4,923 in informal centers (Piraeus and Elliniko).
