Major interest for e-learning programs at the University of Athens

The University of Athens has been operating an e-learning program in the English language for about 15 years, which has recently seen major interest from overseas students.

According to university officials, the vast majority of applications have come from South Africa (62.26%), followed by Nigeria (23.27%), Qatar (3.77%, the United Kingdom (2.52%) and Ghana (1.26%). The vast majority of applicants are male (80.3%) and aged between 25 and 34.

The most popular fields are history and archeology, philosophy, arts and culture, cultural heritage, healthcare and nutrition, nanotechnology and nanomedicine, finances and coaching.

At present there over 200 programs and courses available, which are taught by over 100 teaching and scientific personnel. In the e-learning program’s 15 years there have been over 40,000 students. Further information is available online at http://www.elearninguoa.org/.
